A tribute to one of the most iconic moments in skate video history. This deck from Heritage’s On Video series commemorates Tom Penny’s switch frontside flip over the legendary Carlsbad Gap — a trick that reshaped what was possible in street skating and cemented its place in 411VM Issue 30 (1998).

Carlsbad Gap has always been more than just a spot — it’s one of skateboarding’s most iconic and unforgiving landmarks, where history was made both literally and culturally as skaters from around the world came to prove themselves. Tom Penny’s switch frontside flip, filmed on 16mm for On Video, Summer 2003, marked a defining moment: the UK had arrived, and the bar had been set.

Built on Heritage’s EX7 construction — 7-ply, 100% North American maple pressed with epoxy glue, individually pressed for a stronger-than-standard 7-ply deck with a medium concave and medium kick.
